Solar and planning permits
Solar Panels in most instances do not require a Development Application (DA) providing they meet certain size and positional criteria and are not in a Heritage Conservation Area. Please book an appoint through our e-services platform with Council’s Duty Planner for more information on planning requirements.
The City of Canada Bay area hosts a number of residents in apartment buildings. The installation of solar panels on apartments requires approval from the Owners Corporation. Before contacting the Our Energy Future advisory service for a quote on solar, it is important to engage the strata committee in your building. If you require any assistance, please contact Council’s Sustainability team on 02 9911 6555.
